Hey guys, I need your help! I have a section on oasisweb and it is sorta neglected by me. Its got some words that fans contributed a while back that have to do with the band, their music etc...

If you want to 'define' some words- album titles, songs, words used frequently by the band, etc please post the definitions here. If your wondering what the hell im talking about click here and you should get an idea of what I mean. Thanks in advance! I look forward to having a full dictionary shortly ;) EVERY definition counts!

1. Chav: The underclass of Britain, not very often seen in a good light... never I think. Usually wear fake Burberry caps and massive fake gold jewerly and color coordinated tracksuits, live in "the projects" or run down estates, and have lots of children, waste of space (sounds like I hate them lol).

(Sorry for being opinionated on the answer lol).

Sheila; is just another word for woman, not really derogative... unless you take it the wrong way.

1. What is a 'chav'? I read this term in a a music journalist's article about a British Rock newbie who "considered himself" a chav. Obviously, this journalist didn't think the dude was a chav but far from it. Whatevah.

2. I sometimes hear Brits (and others) call a girl a 'Sheila,' but not like a proper name but more like this: "Oh she's just another Sheila." I think I get the gist of it, a little; but, is that derogatory in a sense? I remember the Smith's song "Sheila, Take a Bow." That might be different, though. Be gentle.

Bigtime LOL. You are entitled to your opinion. In another sense, if you describe someone as "chavvy," it's like they're trying to look a certain way, trying to look 'cool', though he or she might be upperclass. Like an upperclass Oxford-educated person trying to sing 'gangsta' rap music. To fit in with the gangsta-rap crowd, he (or she) might have to look kinda . . . well . . . "chavvy."
